Mostar site-specific

Theatre in the Public Space is a new project of the Four Days in Motion that will include workshops and presentations related to site-specific produc- tions. The team of leaders is made up of individuals from the Czech performing arts community who have several years experience of working on site-specific productions.

The first "practical" part of the workshop series will be led by Šárka Havlíčková, entitled Artistic Leadership and the Production of Site-Specific Projects (April 14 - 21), and will focus on artistic direction and production. This workshop will bring the participants closer to the organizational aspects of a site-specific project, and outline the basic components of realizing a project in a public space. Šárka Havličková is a long-time associate of the mama papa organization and will also explain the problems associated with the work of artistic leadership and site-specific productions.

The second workshop will be led by the direction and dramaturgical team of Lukáš Trpiškový and Martin Kukučka, better known as SKUTR. The dramaturgical duo will lead the participants through the workshop entitled The Actor in the Virtual Space (April 23 - 30) and will deal with problems of the relationship with the director, actor and the space in virtual, abstract, and concrete public spaces. The workshop will conclude with a "work in progress" presentation.

The third workshop The Actor in the Site Specific Space (May 2 - 9) will be led by two members of the Stage Code Company, Daniela Voráčková and Phillipp Schenker. Participants of the workshop will be led through the site-specific project as initiators of the performance content. The representatives of Stage Code will use improvisation techniques in a given space to demonstrate the creative shape of a site specific performance.

The final workshop will be led by scenographer Jan Štepánek entitled Activities in the Public Space (May 11 - 18). Jan Štepánek will present the participants with site-specific work from the stage designer's point of view, from the perspective of researching and designing the space, and gradually move lighting design and the relationship between the space and the overall dramaturgy of the production. Participants of the workshop will have the opportunity to individually create their own performances, events and installations in a public space.
