Creating from the ground up:

Divadlo Miloco’s dramaturgical program reflects the background and skills of its members and focuses on devising original work. Our highly energetic performances, combining clown, live music, song, movement and improvisation, are created through an evolving rehearsal process requiring an ensemble of actors working together over an extended period. The challenge of creating theatre that is dynamic in form and relevant in content is met through the constant exploration of working methods and theatrical styles. Amidst this chaos, the constant of stories and story-telling remains the fulcrum of all our work.

Our goal is to create a new performance piece each year, concentrating on themes with contemporary relevance and that resonate through European history and culture. Encyclopedia of the Dead, our most recent production, is the first of five productions that form The Labyrinth Project, a series of new performances exploring knowledge and belief through the influence of resonating myths at the intersections of history and fiction. The Divadlo Miloco ensemble is currently at work on the second performance of this series,"The Labyrinth of the World and the Paradise of the Heart" based on the work by reknowned Czech philosopher Jan Amos Komensky. This performance is tentatively scheduled to premier in December 2002.
