About the Fulcrum Festival
The Fulcrum Festival of Physical Theatre was born out of Divadlo Milocos growing involvement with theatre ensembles throughout Europe and intended as a means of theatre exchange between companies whose focus is on creating original physical theatre work.
Aiming to build bridges between various European Countries, both inside and outside the European Union, Fulcrum (defined as a supporting point) serves as the perfect image for our mission. We support young theatres by inviting them to perform their pieces in an international festival. These companies bring to the audiences of Prague some of the most innovative and challenging theatre from their countries.
In addition, the educational programme of the festival offers workshops and lectures by leading participants of each of the companies, opening up possibilities for the sharing of cultures, ideas, resources and experiences.
In 2000, Divadlo Miloco produced the first Fulcrum Festival where companies from Bulgaria, Romania, Holland and Yugoslavia enjoyed full houses at Divadlo Alfréd ve Dvore in Prague. We look forward to making the Fulcrum Festival an annual celebration of cultural understanding and exchange in Prague.
Divadlo Miloco is grateful to the City of Prague for supporting the Fulcrum Festival.
