26. května 10.00-14.00 hod, prostor Školská 28, Praha 1 (konkurz);
27. května – 8. června 10.00-14.00 hod, prostor Školská 28, Praha 1 (workshop);
Dílna se samojským tanečníkem a choreografem Lemi Ponifaciem a novozélandskou light designérkou Helen Todd. Témata workshopu: tělo jako aktivátor světla, světlo jako manipulátor těla, vztah těla/světelnosti v pohybu/tichu, světlo jako iniciátor choreografického procesu, architektura světelného prostoru …
Vybraní umělci se mohou účastnit na realizaci instalace/taneční performance (Memory Wall) v rámci pokračujícího mezinárodního projektu Srdce PQ v prostorách Průmyslového paláce v Praze-Holešovicích.

MOVEMENT OF LIGHT AND BODY WORKSHOP
The function of light in dance goes beyond illumination. Light becomes an agent to define the body, or to purposely fragment, blur or conceal it.
Drawing on their years long collaboration, Helen Todd, Light Designer, and Lemi Ponifasio, Stenographer and Director, will workshop for two weeks in May-June 2003 in Skolska Space with young Czech artists, dancers, stage designers and actors to build a performance / body installation that will be later performed in the Industry Palace of Prague (Heart of Prague Quadrennial: A CARDIAC ATTACK TO THE CONVENTIONAL). The work will focus on the relationship between light and body in the choreographic process.
The workshop will explore:
· The body as an activator of light
· Light as manipulator of body
· The relationship of light and body in motion and in stillness
· Light as the architect of choreographic space
· Light as the initiator of choreographic process
· The development of a new vocabulary beneficial to dancers and light designers
The investigation of these concerns will lead towards an appreciation of how narrative, emotion and meaning can arise out of these formal relationships. Participation in the workshop will enhance the ability of dancers, lighting designers and choreographers to interact and collaborate more fully with one another, to engage in creative partnerships of a greater understanding, and develop a fresh approach to their creative process and the possibilities of the dance/light synergy.
Helen Todd and Lemi Ponifasio have worked in collaborative partnership within the company MAU since 1992, developing a distinctive integration of light, body and scenography. The MAU body of work includes dance performance research, installation events and method workshops.
Leading to her work with Ponifasio, Helen Todd designed light for contemporary dance, theatre and opera in New Zealand with experimental collaborations in the field of sound and light performance installation.
