Open letter to Vladimír Hulec

Francouzská herečka a akrobatka Seiline Vallée, bývalá členka Divadla Continuo a zakládající členka česko – francouzského souboru Décalages, reaguje na krátký článek Vladimíra Hulce.

Článek byl uveřejněn ve festivalovém časopise Hadrián, jenž vycházel v rámci 13. ročníku festivalu Divadel evropských regionů v Hradci Králové.

Open letter:

I want to react on what you’ve published in the Hadrián magazine on 30th of June 2007: I was very surprised and perturbed that you took the permission to interpret my words.

I know that there is no need to “hysteria”, because - as you’ve said - it was only something „light“, only some few lines in a festival info newspaper... Nevertheless I would like to inform you, that you have touched a very sensitive topic in such a way, which I’d never expect from the professional journalist and one of the main redactors of festival newspaper. And I don’t consider „light“ when you transcribe words of other people, without any permission. I also know that I still speak quite poorly Czech and sometimes it could bring misunderstanding.

My main problem is that you used some of my words out of context to generalize them. I’ve never said to you: „(...)Doufám, že na nás nebudou zdejší herci zlobit, ale francouzský herec by takto vybaven a s takovým přístupem před diváky asi nevstoupil.“

Far from me this opinion!

How dare I could say it?

How dare you can write it?

And if I will speak about dilettantism today it could be the one of journalists, who obviously even doesn’t take time to inform themselves about the people they interview (for example which company represent those people – we are not the part of Continuo Theatre anymore, by the way).

As well as I try to apply a big rigour on my work; I would like to feel the rigour also in my professional surrounding. I will respect anyone (actors, journalists, butchers, gardeners...) who makes their work with seriousness, honest, love, modesty, soul and inspiration...
