Stipendia UNESCO – Aschberg Bursaries for Artists pro rok 2006/2007

Vše vzniklo na začátku šedesátých let, kdy dva švédští filantropové Olof a Siri Aschbergovi věnovali organizaci UNESCO své sílo v Ile-de-France. To bylo posléze v roce 1992 prodáno, aby se z výtěžku o dva roky později uskutečnila první série stipendií UNESCO - Aschberg Bursaries for Artist.

Toto stipendium se postupem času stalo vlajkovou lodí mezi programy na podporu umění. Je určeno mladým začínajícím umělců jako odrazový můstek pro jejich profese. Umožňuje jim najít pracovní příležitosti a možnosti ve spřátelených institucích.

Od svého vzniku se počet přihlášek i žádosti o členství pravidelně zvyšují. Každoročně se o program uchází stovky mladých umělců. Pro příští sezónu 2006/2007 je vypsáno 67 stipendií ve 47 institucích 26 států.

UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists

2006 - 2007

In the early sixties the Swedish philanthropists Olof and Siri Aschberg donated a mansion located in Ile-de-France to UNESCO. The mansion was sold in 1992, and in memory of the donors and in conformity with the spirit of the couple’s gift, UNESCO decided to invest the sum resulting from the sale and to allocate the totality of the interest received to the creation of the UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists, a flagship programme of the International Fund for the Promotion of Culture (IFPC).

The UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists programme was thus established in 1994 to open new career prospects for young artists and provide them with the possibility for further training in specialised institutions.

Since the programme’s creation, the number of applications received and fellowships granted has increased regularly. Hundreds of young artists have already benefited from the programme. For 2006/2007, the programme proposes 67 fellowships offered by 47 partner institutions in 26 countries.

The fellowships are co-financed by the IFPC and an international network of partner institutions specialised in the training of artists. The IFPC was created in November 1974 during the 18th session of UNESCO’s General Conference, and has developed into a financial fund that supports cultural development projects all over the world. Its aim is to help creators and cultural entrepreneurs to find additional funds for their projects so that cultural diversity can profit from globalisation instead of being its victim.
